Unfortunately, digital nomads can be a particularly susceptible group to this lifestyle. A lack of structure is evident when people are left to take care of themselves completely, which includes staying up until late and waking up in the middle of the next day. Do not allow the alarm clock to dictate your life
If you go to bed on time, chances are that you will wake up on your own, without ever needing the alarm clock. Most of the famous entrepreneurs are notorious for going to bed early, only to wake up when everyone else is asleep. There is a great reason for this practice.
You see, evenings are usually spent by the TV screen, basically wasting time. On the other hand, if you wake up bright and early, you will have plenty of energy to commit to your long-term goals and work towards achieving them. Ultimately, who wants to wake up at 6 in the morning, only to sit down and watch the morning talk shows? If anything, you will be forced to be productive out of sheer necessity and boredom. Most importantly, it won’t require any willpower whatsoever.
Force yourself to some light workout
Don’t get crazy here and start running for 10 miles every morning, or you risk burning out before you know it. Even some light workout is all it takes to get the blood flowing, thus waking up your entire organism. Besides the regular benefits these habits can bring to your life, such as better health and higher energy, they will also have some positive effects when it comes to productivity.
By working out in the morning, you will be able to cross that off your list for the rest of the day, allowing you to focus on other matters at hand. Couple that with a healthy breakfast, and you will be ready to use the most out of each day.
Don’t look at your phone immediately
In the modern times, about 90% of people grab their phone immediately upon waking up. It’s a rather terrible way to start the day, but why do we do it? First of all, we place our phones right beside our beds, so they are there for the taking. Additionally, phones present a tremendous source of fun for when we want to stay in bed just a tad longer. Unfortunately, a couple of minutes turn into hours and subsequently, the day become that much shorter.
To battle this habit, place your phone on the other side of the bedroom, so that you’ll have to get up to turn the alarm off. For the first couple of days, this will be the most annoying thing in the world, but you’ll grow to appreciate it over time. Once you turn off the alarm, just place your phone back on the desk, without looking at the news or social media. You’ll be amazed by how much more stuff you’ll be able to do later on in the day.
Create your own work station
We aren’t speaking about building an entire office in your home, so don’t worry about it. Instead, a clear desk will be a great place to start. Trust us, it’s often times the simplest things, such as cleaning up the mess you left behind the evening before, that zap away any attempts of productivity. At first, you will have to keep reminding yourself to prepare your desk for the next morning, but eventually, it will become automatic. Once that happens, your morning productivity will skyrocket as a result.
