New Years Resolutions for The Digital Nomad

Another year comes to an end, and people around the world are already starting to make plans for the next one. We are prone to making these strong new years resolutions, but the truth is, not a lot of us maintains the spirit to actually keep that promise in the future.

New Years Resolutions for the Digital Nomad

However, we Digital Nomads are a peculiar bunch, known for our stubbornness. Because of that, new year resolutions might give us a perfect chance to improve our quality of life. If you lack inspiration to come up with some, we believe that the examples below will suit you perfectly. Check them out!

Try to gain new friends

Visiting a foreign country is a great experience in itself, but why not kick it up another notch? There’s no better feeling than having people who care for you all around the world. Living as a digital nomad can be lonely at times, but if you gained just one friend for every county you visited, you’d become a rich man.

Still, no matter how many new friends you get, do not forget about the old ones. We know that answering to a ton of emails can be difficult when you’re on the move, but take a few hours of your day and do it. There’s a good chance you’ll make somebody’s day if you do so.

Set new goals

Most digital nomads have about 2 or 3 destinations on their to-do list. It usually takes a couple of years to achieve those goals, but what happens then? Well, we grow, mature, and set new goals we can look forward to! This doesn’t have to be anything radical either. Perhaps you always wanted to re-visit a certain destination from your past, or get in touch with some friends you met along the way. Whatever the case may be, write down at least one short-term and long-term goal for the following year, and pursue them in a couple of months.

Get rid of that piled up luggage

We always talk about minimalism, and the benefits this lifestyle can bring to digital nomads. Still, even we sometimes get carried away, and buy or receive a ton of stuff we have no purpose for. What better time to clean your closet that the year coming to a close? Don’t get us wrong, we aren’t saying that you should throw all of your memories away. Instead, you can find a cheap storage place and keep them safely tucked away there. In case you have no money to invest in this feat, contact your friends or family, and send some of the stuff away. Try me, the sooner you do this, the better your life will become.

Develop one healthy habit

You already know the basics: start eating a healthy diet, workout regularly and develop clean sleeping patterns. Unfortunately, while we all know what needs to be done, we rarely stick to that plan. But why does that happen?

Chances are, you set impossible goals to begin with. Our brains can get used to doing certain things, but only one habit at a time. Because we bite off more than we can chew, we usually end up going nowhere fast. With that in mind, we advise you to choose only one simple task, and repeat it every day. Once you get the hang of it, incorporate the next one and keep moving forward. It sounds easier than it actually is, but if you’re driven enough, and you create a decent plan of action, we believe that you’ll be able to make it!

Archive the old photos

Before you can get to move forward, you first have to deal with the past. In this case, that usually means sorting through old pictures and videos in their dedicated folders. While this task might seem like a waste of time to some, it’s been proven time and time again that the secret to productivity is to set a solid foundation first. By sorting your old memories, you’ll create space to make new ones. Not to mention that you’ll get to re-live some fun memories and perhaps re-connect with some friends you’ve forgotten all about in the meantime.
