Why teaching English is the perfect way to travel the world and become a Digital Nomad

Why English? Of so many languages in the world, and so many professions, why would this be the best choice? The answer to these questions can be found in the basic human pattern of behavior. One thing is in common to all people around the globe, regardless of culture, age or gender. It is the need to communicate. We all know that the English language is not that hard to learn, and that in most countries, it is accepted as the second language, and that can open a lot of doors for you.

Teaching English is Great Way to Become a Digital Nomad

Before we jump into detail, let’s name a few good reasons for this claim. Teaching English is the best way to travel the world because:

  • It is spoken worldwide.
  • You will meet a lot of people.
  • Internet connection won’t be necessary.
  • It will give you a routine.

These are only some of the reasons, but they cover the basics pretty well. But now, let’s dive in a bit deeper.

It gives you freedom

Being a digital nomad is all about freedom. Freedom not to be trapped in an office five days a week for the rest of your life. Freedom to do the things your own way, and not worry about the corporate bonds and regulations. Teaching English will not only give you that, but also allow you to travel to your dream destination and stay there for as long as you like. Unfortunately, we all have to pay the bills, and teaching can give you a steady income. Furthermore, in case you decide to travel to another country, you know that you will be in high demand where ever you go.

You will get to meet different cultures

One of the best things about being a Digital Nomad is meeting different civilizations, and experiencing their way of life first hand. However, people that travel a lot, sometimes have a problem of never feeling at home, or fully accepted by the community. Teaching will not only pay the bills, it will enable you to create bonds with the locals, and meet some friends along the way. It is a great feeling to be able to help someone, and watch them perfect themselves. This creates a bond for life.

Internet is not a necessity

Of course, you can teach online as well for a little extra cash, but that’s not what we’re talking about here. If you are from a big, urban city, it may sound weird to you that some places don’t have the best Internet connectivity, but that is the reality. A lot of people think that the only way to become a digital nomad is by having a technical job that you can do from anywhere around the world. Although that is true in most cases, teaching is different. The only thing you need is knowledge, willingness to adapt, and pen and paper. So, if your plan is to go on a beach in the middle of nowhere, to a small city where you can avoid stress and enjoy the sunsets, teaching might be the ideal profession.

It gives you a routine

OK, so you’ve decided to travel the world, meet different cultures and have a lot of fun in the process. That sounds great in the beginning, but it can get tiring after some time. That is where the nostalgia and loneliness can occur. If this happened to you, don’t worry. A lot of digital nomads go through this at some point, and it is perfectly normal. At the end of the day it might sound funny that the sense of routine is all you need to get back on track, as that might be the very thing you were trying to get away from, but hear us out. Having a reason to get up in the morning is a necessity for a lot of people, and teaching is not only a job, it can give you a certain satisfaction. Teaching will give you a sense of pride. For a Digital Nomad, this can be just what the doctor ordered.
